This page sets out practical guidance for thinking about gambling as entertainment with a cost, and it states plainly what this site can and cannot do to help someone who wants to stop or slow down. It covers the whole build: this page and every other page on it, including each operator listing.
Decide the amount and the limit before any bet
Working out a figure before starting, and treating that figure as already spent, removes the pressure of deciding under the influence of a result. Once money is lost, trying to win it back by raising the next bet tends to turn one loss into several, because the decision is now driven by the previous outcome rather than by a plan made in advance. Setting the amount first keeps the decision separate from how the session is going.
Money that has been borrowed, or that is needed for bills, rent or other commitments, should stay out of gambling entirely. If a session depends on that money, a loss stops being a cost of entertainment and becomes a shortfall somewhere else. Taking breaks during a session, and stopping at a fixed time rather than at a fixed result, also helps: a break interrupts the momentum that makes "one more bet" feel automatic.
If gambling stops feeling like entertainment and starts feeling necessary, involving another person early — a friend, a family member, or one of the organisations named below — is easier before a habit is established than after. Speaking about it while it is still a minor concern is more practical than waiting for a crisis to force the conversation.
Find the independent help links on this page
Every page of this build, this one included, carries links to three independent gambling-help organisations. They are named exactly as follows:
- gambleaware.nsw.gov.au
- gamblinghelponline.org.au
- responsiblegambling.vic.gov.au
These three are the only outbound links on the whole site that are not commercial. Unlike the links to operators, they carry no sponsored marking, they are set to nofollow, and they open in a separate tab on the organisation's own website. This site receives nothing when a reader follows one of them.
Know where account controls actually live
Controls such as deposit caps, loss caps, reality checks, cooling-off periods or self-exclusion belong to an operator account. This build has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch one of those controls on, check whether it is active, or enforce it. A reader who wants any of these controls has to set them up inside an account at the destination operator, once they have left this site.
The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this build, including on the front page and at the end of every operator listing, but nobody's age is verified on this site and no gambling takes place on it. Any age check happens at the destination the reader is sent to. Each of the ten operator listings ends with the same line: check availability and the current terms at the destination before claiming anything, because eligibility rules and terms apply there and can change without notice. Everything a reader can actually do with money happens after leaving this site — each operator link redirects to a third party, and from that point on the destination's rules, checks and account controls apply, not anything published here.
No advertising or behavioural profiling network is present in these pages, so nothing here is targeted at a reader who has shown risky behaviour. The three help links above are the same for every visitor, on every page, regardless of what has been read or clicked before.
